Beauty in Darkness

The Beauty in Darkness collection was formed around the work of artisan Marc Griffith. The pendants and links he creates from found objects, stones, and beads are wrapped in tin, soldered, and oxidized so the tin turns black. Components for the necklaces I created for à Clef were chosen for their color and loveliness shining out of the rough darkness of their settings.

The dark is not always a comfortable place. It can slip up on us in the form of depression or the collapse of a long-term relationship. We worry about things that go bump in the night. Oh for even a candle flame of light at such times.

To survive when life turns bleak, we must look for the light, for bright things that can pierce the gloom and bring a promise of better times to come. You may find a piece in this collection that does that for you.

Of course there are many ways to interpret the pieces in this collection. Some give off a roaring twenties vibe. Look for yourself and tell me what you see or how a particular piece affects you.
